About John Enck
John Enck is a Managing Vice President at the research firm Gartner
(www.gartner.com).
In this capacity he leads a worldwide team of analysts covering IT
operations and management issues. These include process,
organizational, and technology issues, especially those relating to
ITIL. Prior to this position, John was a Vice President for
Gartner covering the
technology and market issues surrounding industry-standard (x86)
servers and enterprise-class directories (e.g., Active
Directory).
John
has over three decades of hands-on experience in the IT industry.
Before joining Gartner in 1998, John was the technology and research
director for Duke Communications, the publisher of Windows NT Magazine and NEWS/400. He has extensive networking and systems
experience with a variety of mainframe, midrange and LAN-based systems.
He is also the author of hundreds of published articles and more than a
dozen commercial computer books. His most popular works include:

John
graduated from Lewisburg Area High School in Pennsylvania in 1974. He
then attended Antioch College in Yellow Springs, Ohio. John graduated
in 1978 with a dual degree in Communications and Computer
Science.
